actions—to bring cognitive capabilities onto real-world devices operating in demanding environments.
Role Overview
As an Edge AI & Cognitive Systems Engineer, you will design, optimize, and deploy AI models that run efficiently on
embedded platforms. You’ll bridge machine learning and embedded systems, developing intelligent, context-aware
devices for applications across aerospace, medical, and industrial domains.
Key Responsibilities
• End-to-End Edge AI Pipeline: Curate sensor datasets (optical/NIR, bioimpedance, inertial, electrical), design
DSP/feature extraction, train models, and deploy inference pipelines on MCUs and SoCs.
• Model Optimization: Quantize, prune, and distill models to meet stringent device constraints — achieving <10
30 ms latency, <1–10 MB RAM, and milliwatt-class power consumption.
• Cognitive Intelligence at the Edge: Implement context-aware reasoning, novelty/anomaly detection, and neuro
symbolic or rules-on-embeddings approaches to enable on-device decision-making.
• Hardware–Firmware Co-Design: Collaborate on sensor selection, signal conditioning, and PCB/FW interfaces
(SPI/I²C/UART/CAN/Modbus); design real-time pipelines on FreeRTOS or Embedded Linux.
• Scalable Edge Deployment: Develop OTA update strategies, telemetry systems, model versioning, and edge
MLOps frameworks for monitoring and model drift tracking.
• Verification & Compliance: Create HIL tests, calibration procedures, and verification documentation aligned with
domain-specific standards (medical, aerospace, or industrial).
• Technical Leadership: Drive system-level design reviews, mentor team members, and define the technical
direction for intelligent embedded systems.
Must-Have Qualifications
• Proven experience delivering ML-based products or pilots.
• Proficiency in Python (training/tooling) and C/C++ (firmware/embedded).
• Hands-on experience with TinyML or on-device inference using TFLite Micro, TensorRT, ONNX Runtime, TVM, or
OpenVINO.
• Strong understanding of INT8 quantization, pruning, distillation, signal processing, and sensor fusion.

• Experience working on ARM Cortex-M/A, NVIDIA Jetson, NXP i.MX, Qualcomm, or RISC-V platforms.
• Exposure to FreeRTOS and/or Embedded Linux (Yocto/Debian) environments.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, unit/integration testing, OTA, and embedded debug tools (serial, JTAG, logic
analyzers).
• Systems thinking across sensors → firmware → models → cloud/edge operations.
Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Haves)
• Experience with cognitive systems, including lightweight agent frameworks, planners, rules-on-embeddings, or
on-device retrieval.
• Domain expertise in NIR/optical spectroscopy, biomedical signals (ECG/PPG/HRV), power systems, or
vibration/acoustics.
• Understanding of connectivity protocols (BLE, Wi-Fi, LoRa, CAN) and secure provisioning practices.
• Knowledge of security and safety frameworks such as IEC 60601, ISO 13485, DO-178C, IEC 62443, or MIL-STD
810.
• Familiarity with Rust for embedded, or CUDA kernel-level optimization.
• Experience with Edge MLOps, shadow deployments, telemetry, and drift detection.
• Background in high-reliability productization (HALT/HASS, environmental stress testing).

Education & Experience
• B.Tech/M.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Strong portfolio of publications, open-source contributions, or shipped embedded devices preferred over formal
pedigree.
